Becoming Her: Stepping into the Woman you are Meant to Be

There came a moment when I looked in the mirror and realized—I was not the woman I wanted to be. Not because I wasn’t trying hard enough, or hadn’t achieved enough, but because something deep inside me knew: I had outgrown the version of myself I’d been surviving in.

That realization wasn’t a graceful awakening—it was overwhelming. I felt deep disappointment at the version of me I had been settling for over the years. I saw the distance between the life I was living and the woman I longed to become, and I didn’t know where to begin. The pressure to fix everything at once—my relationships, my confidence, the trust I had lost with my children—left me frozen. I was trying so hard to get it right that I couldn’t move forward at all.

Like so many women, I was craving transformation but paralyzed by perfectionism. I took two steps forward and at least one back, often stumbling through self-doubt and fear. But along the way, something essential began to emerge: a process, a rhythm, a blueprint born of lived experience. I started noticing what helped me come alive and what shut me down. I began rebuilding, not from urgency, but from devotion.

And slowly, I became her—the woman I used to only dream about being.

This blog post is a guide for any woman standing at the edge of change. Becoming the woman you were meant to be isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about remembering your wholeness. It’s about stepping into your inspired identity, claiming your truth, and allowing your radiance to rise.

What follows is a soul-aligned framework—a taste of the journey my clients take in a Radiant Rebirth Goddess retreat. It’s designed to help you avoid the pitfalls I faced, trust your own becoming, and walk with more clarity and compassion as you embody the next version of you.

Let’s begin.

1. Reflect

  • Assess Your Current Self: Where are you showing up in alignment with your values, and where have you fallen short? This is not about self-criticism—it’s about compassionate accountability. True transformation begins with truth-telling. You must be willing to admit where you've let yourself down, neglected your needs, or dimmed your light to keep the peace. Also name your strengths. Acknowledge where you’ve stayed true to yourself, even when it was hard. Give yourself credit for every brave decision, every quiet resilience, every small step forward. You’ve already come farther than you realize.

  • Prioritize areas for growth: Take a look at the key areas of your life—career, relationships, health, and spirituality. While it's tempting to want to transform everything at once, be realistic about your current capacity. Many women juggle demanding jobs, caregiving roles, and personal health challenges. Instead of trying to overhaul your entire life, choose one or two areas to focus on first. Trust that even small, intentional changes will ripple outward—positively impacting other parts of your life and the people around you. Don’t let growth become another source of pressure. Your transformation doesn’t need to be massive to be meaningful.

2. Reconnect

  • Identify Your Aspirations: This may sound simple, but it often requires peeling back layers of societal expectation and years of putting others first. What once lit you up may now be buried under obligation or forgotten entirely. Be patient with yourself. Give yourself time—quiet, unhurried moments of reflection or meditation—to rediscover what makes you feel truly alive. This step is essential. Without it, you risk chasing goals that were never yours to begin with. Instead, root into the values and qualities that define the woman you long to become. If you haven’t yet named your core values, I recommend revisiting one of my earlier blog posts on that topic—it’s a powerful place to begin gaining clarity.

  • Be Careful about Defining Specific Objectives: While it’s helpful to set clear, measurable, and attainable goals, the truth is that personal growth doesn’t always follow a tidy timeline. Some objectives, like becoming a certified life coach, can be mapped out with steps and deadlines—research the programs, choose the one that resonates, enroll, and complete it. But deeper shifts, like emotional neutrality or inner peace, unfold more organically. When I set the intention to no longer react with tension every time I received a message from my ex-husband, there was no checklist. There was only the quiet, ongoing work—daily meditation, forgiveness rituals, and a commitment to kindness. Until one day, I read a message… and the eye roll never came. That’s how transformation often works: slowly, subtly, and then all at once.

3. Release

  • Let Go of the Fear: Fear often arises from feeling overwhelmed by all the changes you think must happen to create the life you desire. But what if, instead of trying to change everything around you, you focused solely on changing yourself? It might feel limiting or even discouraging at first, but the truth is, the only person you can truly change is you. When you make that shift—releasing the need to control or change others—you unlock a surprising amount of personal power. With this power, you’ll begin to see that fear often comes from a scarcity mindset—the worry that there isn’t enough “good stuff” to go around. The reality is quite the opposite: abundance is your birthright. All you need is the right perspective to claim it.

  • Surrender to what is: Accepting life as it comes might sound like giving up, but it is actually a profound act of freedom. When you truly accept what is, you release the exhausting effort of resisting circumstances beyond your control. This doesn’t mean complacency—it means redirecting your energy and focus away from what you cannot change, and toward what you can influence: your inner world. In this spacious acceptance, peace begins to grow within you. It’s from this calm, open space that true inspiration arises—ideas, clarity, and motivation that feel aligned with your deepest self. Don’t be surprised if, through acceptance, you discover a newfound creativity and a powerful drive to take inspired, authentic action that honors who you really are.

4. Realign

  • Practice Kindness Toward Yourself: Remember that making mistakes is not a failure, but a natural and necessary part of growth. Treat yourself with the same compassion and understanding that you would generously offer a dear friend navigating a similar journey. Many women find this step challenging, so give yourself extra grace and intention in realigning your thoughts around self-compassion. Holding yourself accountable and committing to growth doesn’t mean harsh judgment—it means embracing your humanness with gentle patience. Even when you stumble or fall, kindness can be your steady guide, supporting you to rise again with renewed strength and clarity.

  • Maintain a Positive Inner Dialogue: When negative self-talk arises, gently challenge it by reframing your thoughts and shifting your focus toward your progress and achievements, no matter how small. Remember, the words you speak to yourself carry immense power—they shape your beliefs, your emotions, and ultimately, your reality. Commit to using this power to uplift and encourage yourself. If you’d like to explore this further, I invite you to revisit one of my earlier blog posts about the transformative power of words.

5. Receive

  • Connect with Like-Minded Individuals: Surround yourself with people who inspire and support your aspirations. A nurturing community offers encouragement, wise counsel, and accountability—all vital ingredients for sustained growth. From my own journey, I can’t overstate how much the relationships I formed lifted me up and kept me moving forward. Those women remain dear friends who continue to inspire me to this day. Just thinking of them fills me with a warm, glowing feeling. It’s this deep desire to recreate that experience for others that inspired me to create the Goddess Haven—a sacred space where connection, support, and empowerment flourish. You can learn more about it below.

  • Seek Mentorship: Identify mentors who embody the qualities you admire and can offer guidance grounded in their own lived experiences. Mentorship played a crucial role in my own transformation—I explored several mentors before finding a few whose wisdom and support truly nourished my growth. Finding the right mentor is a deeply personal journey, and I would be honored to walk alongside you as one of your guides on this path of transformation, I we make a good fit.

6. Replenish

  • Attend to Your Physical Health: Prioritize regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient rest to nurture your overall well-being. When you consistently care for your body, you create a strong foundation that supports every aspect of your growth and transformation. We all know how much better we feel when we honor our physical needs, but if you need an extra incentive to embrace a healthy lifestyle, I invite you to revisit one of my earliest blog posts about the “body budget.” The insights there might just inspire you to deepen your commitment to self-care.

  • Nurture Your Mental and Emotional Health: Incorporate practices like mindfulness, meditation, or journaling to manage stress and cultivate inner peace. As you deepen your connection with your evolving self, you’ll naturally discover the rituals and rhythms that soothe and replenish you. Over time, you’ll become fluent in your own peace-language—whether that looks like reading in your favorite cozy chair, gliding through snowy trails on cross-country skis, or basking in the oxygen-rich serenity of a forest bath. These moments become more than self-care—they become fundamental anchors in your transformation journey.

7. Reclaim

  • Create your own rituals of consistent action: We often hear the advice to build routines that align with our goals—like daily gratitude lists or morning journaling. If that structure supports you, wonderful! But if you’re someone who, like me, finds routine confining, give yourself permission to be more fluid. Consistency doesn’t have to mean doing the same thing every day. It can live in weekly rhythms, monthly check-ins, or even an annual tradition like a soul-nourishing trip with dear friends. Trust that your version of consistency is enough. Honor the rituals that keep you aligned—no matter how often they appear.

  • Personalize your assessment system: Some aspirations follow a clear, linear path—like completing a course and receiving a certificate. Others, like cultivating inner peace or self-trust, unfold quietly and arrive without fanfare. That’s why it’s essential to stay attuned to both your inner world and your outer experiences. You might suddenly realize that something that used to trigger you no longer holds power, or that you feel lighter, more grounded, or more joyful. Celebrate these quiet victories just as wholeheartedly as you would a graduation—they’re often the milestones that mark your deepest transformation.

8. Rejoice

  • Acknowledge Milestones: Recognize and celebrate your accomplishments—whether monumental or seemingly small—as a way to reinforce positive habits and stay motivated. Celebration isn’t just a reward; it’s an act of honoring the woman you’re becoming. You can even create your own ritual around it. I love to wear a tiara, sometimes just around the house, as a playful embodiment of my goddess energy. One of my clients treats herself to a new outfit each month as a nod to her continued consistency. Another idea is to eat dinner on the “good” china—even if it’s just takeout—to remind yourself that you are worthy of beauty and joy in everyday moments. Use your imagination, but make it personal. However you choose to celebrate, let it be a unique recognition of how far you’ve come.

  • Reflect on Growth: Appreciate the resilience, insight, and transformation that have unfolded—sometimes quietly, sometimes boldly—along the way. Just recently, I found myself reflecting on where I was in January, and I was struck by how much has shifted just since then. The lessons I’ve integrated and the experiences I’ve moved through have deepened my perspective and opened new pathways of possibility. Don’t underestimate the power of this awareness. Rejoicing in your own evolution not only honors the journey—it also fuels what’s next.

By following these steps, you empower yourself to grow into the woman you envision—one who lives with authenticity, fulfillment, and radiant self-trust. Remember, this journey is deeply personal and beautifully ongoing. Embrace each moment with patience and self-love. And if you're craving a built-in support system of wise, compassionate, and curious women walking a similar path, the Goddess Haven was created with you in mind. Inside, you'll find a rich library of resources—guided meditations, daily healings, journal prompts, and more—designed to support your transformation at your own pace.
